For most trips, there needs to be at least one day that is partially clear. Weekday trips, therefore, will sometimes be arranged on short notice. Good-weather weekends are not always possible. Some trips will be rescheduled for weekdays. Trip PlanningĬloudy weather will cancel some weekend plans. We are an inclusive group and welcome diversity. Group members are friendly and willing to help. Have questions? You can contact organizers via the Meetup page or post questions on the event pages to find out more about gear, methods, and expectations.
To participate you must join the Meetup and agree to the release of liability. Prior experience snow camping and snowshoeing is recommended.
Most of the trips posted will be one- or two-night trips.īeginners are welcome, but you must be fit, have the appropriate gear, and have some experience backpacking. It is your responsibility to understand the level of risks you are accepting and do your own route research and decision-making. Traveling in a group increases safety, but everyone is responsible for their own safety and wellbeing. This Meetup exists to bring hikers together who are interested in winter backpacking.
#MEETUP BIG MOUNTAIN SNOWBOARDING FREE#
This is a free Meetup group, not a mountain tour service. Before each winter trip, it is your responsibility to check: They are not leaders and they are not responsible for your safety. Our Winter Backpacking Meetup page can be found here: See Liability Agreement in the red box on this page. If you join the Winter Backpacking Meetup activities it is assumed that you have read and agree to the release of liability. It’s moments like this that make me realize that it isn’t about the summit, it’s about the journey, the people you meet and the memories made. This page includes essential safety and liability information. We pushed ourselves, got lost a few times (thankful for that GPS!), shared stories, had some good laughs, took tons of photos and pushed through to the summit where we were treated to insane 360-degree views of Spray Lakes and surrounding mountains and had our well-deserved lunch. Please enjoy these photos from the snowshoe hike to Rummel Ridge. Our audience is also largely in Alberta, so we wanted to meet them in person and really see how they like to adventure! Everyone in the group was a character! All interesting with stories to tell! I wish I could have stayed longer, just to hear more of their journeys. Not only does it offer completely stunning landscapes and hikes year-round, but the area boasts some of most adventurous people in the province of Alberta. We decided to host our first hike in Kananaskis for many reasons. Our first This Adventure Life hiking meetup was such an amazing experience for me. I also had bigger goals, one of which was creating meetups. I wanted to inspire people to get out and explore the world as well as creating and fostering friendships between like-minded people. I envisioned a website that adventurers around the world could use as a platform to share their journeys. One of the reasons I started This Adventure Life was to create a community of outdoor adventure enthusiasts.
